Hatchards Bookseller

Hatchards is London's oldest bookshop, founded in Piccadilly in 1797. 📚

It is the Official Bookseller to the Royal Household.

Hatchards was also a favourite bookshop for many writers, including Lord Byron, Samuel Taylor Coledrige, Aldous Huxley, Beatrix Potter, and Oscar Wilde, the latter of which was a frequent client of Hatchards in the 1890s.

A table on the ground floors is even called Oscar’s Table because he signed so many books there.

It is even true that Jane Austen mentioned Hatchards in her famous novel, Mrs Dalloway.
