About
London: The Land of Literature

London is well known as one of the most important capitals of the world. Over the centuries, it has been a centre of art, culture, literature and social life — and it seems this hasn’t changed a bit. Many throughout history have been drawn to this magical city and wanted to be a part of it; that attraction still continues today.

Among those people were many famous authors, poets, storytellers and playwrights. London has a long tradition of remembering the people who shaped its history. As you wander through the city, the statues, plaques, memorials and historic places you encounter remind you of how deeply literature is woven into London’s identity. We can easily say that literature runs through the very veins of the city.

At Writer’s Path, our aim is to remember and rekindle London’s connection with literature. Through our trips and research, we add literary locations to our customised Writer’s Path map so you can discover the stories behind them and find the best routes between each landmark. We know many more authors and places will be added over time — and we hope you’ll take part by offering locations you’d like to see added to the map.

Alongside the map, Writer’s Path also offers a collection of literary gifts inspired by writers, books and London’s literary heritage. From art prints to mugs and t-shirts, each design is crafted for readers and book lovers who want to bring a piece of literature into their daily life.

We hope you enjoy exploring the literary side of London with Writer’s Path — and discover something special along the way.
